Leading Hands of Canada

Leading Hands of Canada is a creative new business owned by Jo-Anne Durham of Kingston. She is a Deaf American Sign language consultant in teaching, training the general public, professionals, service providers and employers. It's proprietor of "Leading Hands of Canada", a professional service specializing in better communication between Deaf and hearing people.

With the growing public expectations of equality and independence for persons with disabilities, the mandate of Leading Hands of Canada is to provide professional cost-effective service that will help you meet the communication access needs of the Deaf.

Leading Hands of Canada can educate and train employers and staff from organizations to businesses, both private and public on how to communicate in American Sign Language (ASL) with your Deaf clients or customers or employees.

Why do we need better communication? In 2005, the Ontario Government instituted a Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) moving towards full inclusion of persons with disabilities with more access and responsiveness to their needs. The goal is to make Ontario barrier-free by 2025.
